Thank you for stopping by & supporting my small business!

Here we are, New Year’s Eve 2024! Am I the only one who feels like the festive season just flew by? The build-up is huge—both personally and for Pockets of Bliss (POB). It’s all systems go for what feels like a blink of an eye, but when it’s over, burnout arrives like an uninvited guest with bells on its shoes, grinning, “HERE I AM!” Sound familiar?
Burnout looks different for everyone, but here’s how I manage it: I sign off for a day (or four, haha!). POB is my heart and soul, but after working my socks off all year—especially during Christmas—I take a small, much-needed holiday.
This year, I’ve also had a few moments where my mental health took a hit. Nothing major, but enough to remind me that I need to prioritise self-care. Sleep, for example, has been a constant battle, so I’ve committed to doing more of what helps me feel relaxed and recharged.
I’m not into resolutions—they rarely stick! But goals? Those feel achievable. Here’s what I’ve set for myself:
1. Read More
I got 10 new books for Christmas (thank you, Santa!). I’ve already finished one, and it was brilliant—it only took me two days because I couldn’t put it down. I’m not rushing through my pile, but reading brings me so much joy, and I want to carve out more time for it in 2025.
2. Exercise More
The gym isn’t calling my name just yet, and that’s okay. At home, I’ve got small weights, a wobble machine, and my walls for Pilates, plus my gorgeous dog who loves walks. Fitness doesn’t have to cost loads—sometimes it’s about finding the time and mustering the willpower to get started.
3. Explore Fasting
I’m currently reading Fast Like a Girl by Dr. Mindy Pelz, which is an incredible deep dive into women’s health and fasting. I’m a research geek, so I’ve been learning everything I can before I try it properly. If you’re interested in fasting, please read up on it and consult a medical professional first—this is not something to jump into lightly.
4. Sleep Better
This is a big one for me. I love early mornings and want to embrace them fully, but I need a consistent sleep rhythm. It’ll take time, but I’m determined to make it work and will keep you updated!
5. Grow Pockets of Bliss
My one big goal for POB? Keep going! I want to grow awareness about mental health, kindness, and compassion while continuing to spread pockets of bliss wherever I can.
If you’re feeling the post-Christmas slump, here are a few extra tips to start the year strong:
Whatever you do, remember to choose kindness—for yourself and others. If you’re feeling burnt out, take time for YOU. It doesn’t have to be a luxury spa day (though that’s great too!). It could be an early night, a movie day on the sofa, a coffee with a friend, or simply reading a book and taking a peaceful walk.
My mantra is: “We are no good to others if we’re no good to ourselves.” So, look after yourself first, and everything else will follow.
Here’s to a healthy, happy, and bliss-filled 2025! 💛
