Get to Know Me – The Real Sian

Alright, buckle up buttercup, here’s a little peek behind the curtain...
I'm Sian, and I’m hitting the big 4-0 in May 2025 (so if you’re reading this in 2026 or beyond... yes, I am now older, wiser, and probably still pretending Im 23, in my head I am)

I have two wonderful “children” our son is 18 (technically a grown-up) , and our daughter is turning 13 this year.

I married my best friend back in 2013. He’s the calm to my chaos, the “it’ll be fine” to my “are you sure the dog looks okay??” energy.

I love books. Like, love them. If there’s a bookshop on a day out, I’m in it, probably smelling the pages and convincing myself I need another self-help book (I do, obviously, you can never have too many, right?)

My garden is my happy place. Loved gardening since I was a kid, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Favourite film genre? Horror. You name it, Ive probably seen it. To the point that I think im a horror critic, self-appointed, but passionately qualified. Oh dear, now youve got me started, lets take The Blair Witch Project, so many people I have spoken to are just not fans, Well, Excuse me?? If I was lost in the woods, with creepy stick figures hanging around, my mate crying in the corner, and something unseen breathing outside my tent?? I’d be pooping myself... and so would you!

Ricky Gervais is my favourite comedian. The man’s a genius (don’t @ me).

Scariest book I’ve ever read? Salem’s Lot by Stephen King, It’s one of those books that completely engulfs you, it’s creepy as hell and genuinely gave me chills, and they were multiplying, and I was losing control. (Guess the film 😂)

All-time favourite book as a teen? Sophie’s Story by Vince Smith, still gives me all the feels, tears and warmth. Such a beautiful read.

As a grown-up (allegedly), my favourite book is Wild by Cheryl Strayed. That woman hiked the Pacific Crest Trail and changed her life, I’ve never hiked a day in mine, but in my heart I’ve conquered mountains (and my knees agree it’s best to leave it there for now 😂).

I love love love music. I’ve been fortunate enough to see some of the greatest legends live in concert. I’ve had the chance to see Bob Dylan, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, and Bruce Springsteen (just to name a few). Music is a huge part of who I am, and it always has been.

I’m vegan 🌱 and proud (but not preachy, although always happy to educate if asked). It all started in Spain during Veganuary, and 4 years later, I haven’t looked back. I haven’t eaten meat for over 12 years, Pockets of Bliss only ever stocks vegan products because compassion tastes better, baby.

Alcohol? Haven’t touched it since July 2023. No dramatic story, just realised it didn’t vibe with my anxiety and mental health. Never say never, but right now? I’m living that clear-headed life and loving it.

Caffeine? Also out. Black coffee used to be my lifeblood, but anxiety + caffeine = heart palpitations and existential dread, so I quit that in 2023 too. These days you’ll find me sipping on oat milk decaf tea like a cozy little grandma and and gobsmacking people with the amount of milk I use (yes, it’s practically a hug in a mug, leave me be) or living my best café life with a decaf oat milk latte.

A Little Business Backstory
Pockets of Bliss isn’t my first business, you know what they say about entrepreneurs: they don’t give up! Before diving into this world of gifting, I ran a dog-walking business that was not only successful but something I absolutely adored. It was my happy place for a while, until the world turned upside down with COVID.Then, I shifted gears and opened a brick-and-mortar store in Spain, along with an online clothing business called Just Real Humans. It was an incredible chapter, and I learned so much from that adventure. But now? Now I have my absolute baby, Pockets of Bliss, the business I was truly destined to have. I genuinely believe this is where I’m supposed to be, helping spread a little joy and mental health awareness with the world, one gift box at a time.

And that’s me, in a (very large) nutshell! Thanks for getting to know me a little better. 💫

You can also find me navigating the world of social media... terribly!
